From September 22nd 2007 to April 20th 2008

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Chemin des Dames
battles, the General Council of the Aisne Department has decided to
pay special tribute to the Senegalese “Tirailleurs”
engaged in WW1.
This temporary exhibition presents the story of these men who came
from French West Africa (a former French possession) to the cold
and damp trenches of a far and foreign land in order to fight the
war of the toubabs…the war of the white men. This exhibition
is also the opportunity for you to discover the
“Constellation de la douleur” memorial, sculpted by
Christian Lapie, and set up in the surroundings of the Caverne du
Dragon.
You can view the questionnaire created for the exhibition.
